Staff go the extra mile for Christmas

E Sargeant & Son staff went that extra mile for the community recently when they ferried residents from a Windsor care home to a Christmas service at St Mary’s Church in Slough. Affectionately known as ‘Donkey Carols’ the service even features a real donkey!

The event, on the 4th December at St Mary’s Church in Slough, is organised annually by the town centre churches and the money raised was donated to Crossroads Care Slough and the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.

The brand supports the service every Christmas and this year was no different. Four members of the teams from E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors, including Mark Clements, Area Development Manager, Abbie Reeve and Katrina Gascoyne, both Funeral Arrangers, and Rachel Palmer, Funeral Director, helped transport 25 residents and six staff from the Manor Care Home in Windsor.

The team hired three mini buses from Slough Community Transport and also used one of the brand’s Jaguar limousines.

Mark said: “We wrote to the families whom we had helped over the past 18 months and invited them to the service. Some attended which was great. Including regular church goers, the congregation was estimated at 180 adults and 50 children plus one donkey! Among them was the Mayor of Slough, too.”
