Double awards recognition for community support

The teams at E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead have scooped not one but two awards for their involvement in the local community.

For the second time, the team from Slough beat off stiff competition from the likes of Mars chocolate to pick up the Business Support of the Year award at the Slough Council for Voluntary Service Awards, held on the 18th November at the Heathrow Windsor Marriott Hotel.

Area Development Manager Mark Clements said: “I joined the funeral industry as I wanted to help people within our community as much as possible. Not only do we help people during what can be the hardest time of their lives, we also provide help and support to local groups and companies.

“This year we were nominated by five groups that we help in the area, The Manor Care Home, The Dionysus Ensemble, Kingsway United Reformed Church in Slough, St Mary’s Church in Slough and The Vishaal Foundation.

“It is such an honour to be recognised by the groups we help in the area and it means the world to us to receive the Slough CVS Business Support of the Year award.”

This wasn’t the only accolade the teams at E Sargeant & Son have picked up. Each year WAM Get Involved, a volunteering portal in Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead, holds the Royal Borough Voluntary Sector Awards to recognise those who have provided community support in the area.

This year the teams at E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors were nominated by Manor Care Home for the Team of the Year category.

Alison Moys, FAA at E Sargeant & Son, attended and collected the team’s certification of appreciation at the event on the 14th September. She said: “We were absolutely honoured that the Manor Care Home nominated us for this award. Our team is committed to supporting our local community so this really means a lot to us all.”

Irma Aleshe, Activities Co-ordinator at Manor Care Home, said: “The team at E Sargeant & Son has facilitated our trips, events and provision of special gifts for all our residents on celebration dates. They have made up and delivered individual goody bags for each resident and have also funded coaches and drivers to enable our residents to attend day trips. The team has gone over and above in giving back community wellbeing to elderly citizens.”
