Windsor funeral directors donate community funding to local charity

A community project making a positive impact on people’s quality of life in East Berkshire has received a significant financial boost thanks to the first round of E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors’ 2026 Community Fund.

The recipient of the £3,000 award was The Baby Bank: a project based between Windsor and Maidenhead that supports families in extreme need across the area. This funding will enable the supply of pre-loved and new uniforms for children of all ages.

Rebecca Mistray from The Baby Bank was welcomed to E Sargeant & Son’s Windsor office by Vicki Newell (Senior Funeral Arranger) and Judy Mahay for the cheque presentation, where they discussed the project’s work to help vulnerable families in many different ways.

Vicki Newell said: “We are delighted to be able to offer support to such a caring project in the local area. The Baby Bank is making a real difference to people’s lives, providing much-needed, meaningful support to people in need.”

Judy Mahay added: “We’re proud to highlight the positivity that’s happening right on our doorstep and are looking forward to seeing this project continue to thrive.”

The team at the Berkshire funeral directors launched their grants programme in February with the aim of providing financial support for community-based projects that benefit people who live within a 3-mile radius of their funeral homes in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead. Projects must be non-profit and align with one or more of the fund’s categories; Health, Education, Employment Opportunities and Poverty or Social Deprivation.

The second cycle of their Community Fund grants will open for applications on June 22.
