Help & Advice

First Steps

The first few days after a death

This can feel like an overwhelming time as there seems like a lot to do, but E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors can help you at this stage, and every further step of the way.

In our booklet, available to download here ‘What to do when someone dies’, we explain everything you need to know, including information for sudden death, if the Coroner is involved or if the person has died outside of Great Britain. If you would like us to send you a copy of the brochure please just let us know.

There is also a leaflet available from the Ministry of Justice ‘Guide to Coroner Services’ available here which provides lots of useful information.

There are a wide range of organisations that can offer support in coping with your grief, or simply being someone to talk to outside of your family and friends. Funeral Partners free bereavement advice line is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm on 0808 1642239.
